The Start of a New Adventure

Outreach, here we come!

These past few months have been an incredible journey for all 13 of us Go Sailing students and staff. We’ve been blessed to live in one of the most beautiful countries of God’s creation for the purpose of knowing Him more. We’ve grown together as a family from the first few days here sharing our life stories, spending a couple weeks in Whanganui, sailing on the weekends, working on the Marine Reach ship- the Pacific Hope, and just doing life together each day!
Each week we have covered a different topic including intercession, spiritual warfare, father heart of God, and hearing God’s voice just to name a few. We’ve each been stretched and challenged in different ways and witnessed God like never before. We’ve spent three afternoons a week working on the Pacific Hope- chipping paint, grinding, helping with dishes, and painting as our ministry placement. During our weekly stream time, we’ve been learning all sorts of sailing techniques- how navigation works, understanding weather patterns and charts, how radio waves work and much more. We’ve spent weekends together going on some incredible sailing adventures to put these skills to practice, and prepare for our latter half of outreach!
Our group consists of 9 students and 4 staffers derived from 8 different nationalities. The founder of Youth with a Mission, Loren Cunningham, had the vision of young people coming from all around the world to spread the gospel to every continent on the globe. How awesome is it that we get to be part of that vision?! We will be the first ever Sailing DTS to set out and further His kingdom in both Vanuatu and the Bay of Islands, Northern New Zealand.
On January 3rd, we’ll be leaving for Vanuatu! We will be spending the first two weeks in several different villages including Nguna- handing out Bibles, performing skits and songs, and praying with as many people as we can. We’ve spent the past several weeks preparing sermons and testimonies to share with the villagers, and in church services. We’ve also prepared crafts to do with the kids, songs to perform, and skits that show different aspects of God’s love. After spending a couple weeks between villages in the more remote islands, we will head to Port Vila where we will be staying at the Grace House- a small YWAM base in Vanuatu.
I will be keeping this page updated as best as I can on behalf of our whole team- with pictures and stories from all your loved ones here in the Southern hemisphere! Please keep us in your prayers as we head out on a new chapter on this journey of a lifetime, and enjoy keeping up with us on here!
